West Midlands Preliminary Round
October 3rd 2010

The West Midlands Preliminary Boxing Competition was held on the 3rd of October 2010 on a miserable typical british day in Coventry at the standard triumph social club. This however did not dampen any spirits as all clubs, coaches and boxers turned up in high spirits for the prelim round. After all the weigh in and doctors checks were done, the ABAE officials proceeded to the draw where a fair few fighters received a bye to the next round, some where happy to go home and put their feet up, others not so much as they had travelled a fair distance and wanted to do what the train so hard for. But nether the less the show must go on and the 25 bouts were drawn.

As the room started to fill up with passionate family support and clubs nestling in the own little areas the bouts kicked off with the class A's. Niave as i was i thought that the youngest age group would be a little less active and not as much action but i was proved totally wrong, all bouts from 1 to 25 were fascinating to watch. No fighters showed any fear or anger just a professional attitude and a sportsmanship manor that many of the lads seem to do naturally. I was astonished by the togetherness of the fighters it was truly an honour to be a part of.
