NIGHT OPERATION 2007 Saturday 28th April at Sutton Park
THe 2007 Night Operation was a huge success with 336 young people aged 13 to 18 taking part, comprising 84 teams of 4. The Night Operation was a joint venture between Birmingham Fed, Birmingham City Council Youth Services and BAYC. This year it was a true adventure experience. Throughout the night, starting at midnight, teams navigated the 1000 hectares of Sutton Park looking for 'Incident Points'. They completed a variety of tasks, scoring pointsalong the way to compete for a trophy.
One of the key roles of Birmingham Fed was to provide the food and drinks for young people throughout the night. This took the form of a food marquee. A huge thanks goes to those who contributed their time and expertise (and sacrificed sleep!) throughout the night to keep the young people fed and watered. Particular thanks to: Martin Florey - in charge of the Bacon barbecue Barry - Vegetarian barbecue (Barry's blackened veggie burgers are now the stuff of legend!) Steven Florey - bread man John Harbidge - Tea/Coffee/Hot Chocolate Matthew Todd - Hot Drinks, front of house An extra special thanks to Mike Smith, who used his considerable navigational skills to direct many a lost group of young people, most of which never did get to their desired location after all!
