Since before WWII, The Stonehouse Gang has provided children and young people with a place to go and given them things to do that must mean they have the right formula, the right staff and crucially the right volunteers.
I was privileged to attend their Presentation night on 27th September 2007 and, together with the Lord Mayor (Councillor Randal Brew), we awarded 13 volunteers with Long Service Awards, two of which were signed by the Duke of Gloucester, President of Clubs for Young People, our Parent body.
The service given totalled a minimum of 320 years in time and the award recognised the contribution made by individuals from all walks of life. Presidents Award for 50 years went to Douglas King and David Finney. Platinum Award for 40 years went to Gordon Roger Wilcox. Gold Awards went to Trevor Franklin, Helen Shipway, silver awards to Jeannie Gledhill and David Fair and Bronze awards to Lee Goddard, Trevor Pendleton, Carol Pendleton, Bruce Tanner and Paul Pollard.
If your club would like to acknowledge the part volunteers play then please contact Birmingham Fed and we will arrange for the cretificates accordingly.
